Pre-1899 Manufacture, no licenses required, allowed to ship to almost any deliverable address across the globe. By purchasing an antique gun from IMA you thereby release IMA, its employees and corporate officers from any and all liability associated with use of our Antique guns. Any attempt at restoring an antique gun to be operational is strongly discouraged and is done so at the risk of the customer. They are sold as collector's items or as "wall hangers". These antique guns are not sold in "live" condition. Therefore, all of IMA's Antique guns may be shipped to all US States and most nations around the world. All rifles and muskets sold by IMA that were manufactured prior to 1899 are considered Antiques by the US BATF (United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms).

No FFL, C&R or any license is required to possess, transport, sell or trade Antique guns. This law exempts antique firearms from any form of gun control or special engineering because they are not legally considered firearms. Code, Section 921(a)(16) defines antique firearms as all guns made prior to 1899. IMA considers all of our antique guns as non-firing, inoperable and/or inert. Overall a very nice example, probably the first we have ever had. There is some wear to the lands, and some oxidation and fouling in the grooves. The bore is in good condition, with clear lands and grooves and a partly bright finish. This made sure that the soldier would remember to load a new stripper clip into the internal magazine. The bolt cycles well, with the magazine follower correctly popping up to obstruct the bolt when the magazine is empty. The leather buckle on the butt stock for the sling is still in very good condition, though we unfortunately do not have the sling. It does not look to have been arsenal reconditioned, and the proofs are still clear. The stock is in good condition, with a very nice color, and expected wear from service and age. The rear sight has unfortunately lost the entire ladder, so it only has the short range leaf left. There is also an intact aluminum unit marking disk on the right side of the stock, marked M / MDN / 935.Ĭondition of the carbine is very good, with the metalwork still showing a lot of the original bluing, and the bolt still bright, with some light staining. Most likely these parts, or possibly the entire stock, were swapped at at arsenal. The front sight nose cap, barrel band, and butt plate are marked instead with number 395.

The left side of the receiver is marked with serial number 2578, while the magazine floor plate, bolt handle, firing pin holder, and bolt release are marked with shortened number 78. The front of the receiver is maker marked by the Mauser Weapon Factory (Waffenfabrik) in Oberndorf am Neckar, Germany, over the date of manufacture: This is a very nice example of the first production run made in Germany, which also did not see later modifications in 1914 for the addition of a bayonet.

This series of carbines were all manufactured in 1895, and a very few spare receivers dated 1895 were received from Mauser Oberndorf's manufacturers "Ludwig Loewe & Company". The first 12,000 carbines were manufactured by Waffenfabrik Mauser in Oberndorf am Neckar, Germany. There had been a m/1892 carbine submitted for trials, and the m/1894 was the finished product. The m/1894 carbine was adopted in 1894 as the first of the "Swedish Mauser" designs put into large scale production.
All Swedish Mausers, whether built in Germany or Sweden, were fabricated using a Swedish-supplied high grade tool steel alloyed with nickel, copper, and vanadium, a product then noted for its strength and corrosion resistance. Swedish Mausers were manufactured by Waffenfabrik Mauser AG in Oberndorf a/N in Germany and in Sweden by Carl Gustafs Stads Gevärsfaktori and Husqvarna Vapenfabriks Aktiebolag. In 1898 production began at Carl Gustafs stads Gevärsfaktori in Eskilstuna, Sweden.Īll Swedish Mausers were chambered for the 6.5×55mm cartridge, and all Swedish-made actions were proof-tested with a single 6.5×55mm proof round developing approximately 455 MPa (65,992 psi) piezo pressure (55,000 CUP).
